What happened to Today's Plan
Today's Plan shut down on 12 March 2024. The platform launched in 2014 in Australia, was acquired by Specialized in 2019, and spent most of a decade as the main rival to TrainingPeaks among coaches and WorldTour teams. Bora-Hansgrohe and several Tour de France squads ran their programmes on it.
The closure was announced in December 2023 and covered at the time by DC Rainmaker, Cycling Weekly and Velo.
Your training history, honestly
Athletes could export their data up to the final day of service, and anyone with time left on a subscription could request a refund. If you did not export before 12 March 2024, that history is gone from Today's Plan. No platform can recover it for you, and any service that claims otherwise is selling you something.
What is usually recoverable is the underlying rides. If your sessions also synced to Strava, Garmin Connect or your head unit, the files are still there, and most platforms will import from those sources. What you lose is the structured plan layer: the workout library you built, the coach notes and the annotations.
Where Today's Plan riders actually went
There is no single replacement, because Today's Plan served two very different users: coaches managing rosters, and self-coached athletes who wanted deep analytics. Those two ended up in different places.
If you coached others on it, TrainingPeaks is the closest structural match: athlete rosters, plan assignment and a coach-facing billing model. It is the migration most professional coaches made, and it is also the most expensive.
If you were self-coached and mainly wanted the analytics, intervals.icu covers most of what you used for free, and asks four dollars a month if you want to support it. It is not a coaching product and does not pretend to be.
If what you actually miss is the plan that kept updating, that is the part neither of those two does on its own. TrainingPeaks gives you the calendar but you still write the plan. intervals.icu gives you the numbers but not the prescription.
| What you used it for | Where to go | Price | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coaching other athletes | TrainingPeaks | $11.25/mo billed annually (Premium) | Does not write the plan for you |
| Analysing your own numbers | intervals.icu | Free, $4/mo optional | No plan prescription, no coaching |
| Following a plan that kept updating | Cycling Coach AI | $12.50/mo billed annually, $19.99 monthly | No coach-and-roster management |
Where we fit, and where we do not
Cycling Coach AI builds the plan and rewrites it after every ride you record, which is the layer Today's Plan users lose when they move to an analytics tool. It reads from Strava, intervals.icu, Garmin and Wahoo, and sends workouts to Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead and Rouvy.
It is not a coaching platform. If you were using Today's Plan to manage other athletes, we do not replace it and TrainingPeaks is the honest answer. We are built for the rider training themselves.
